Test 7 is  a Land Blind with a dry pop and a sluice. The mat is just right of the mat in Test 6 on the side of a hill.

When the handler gets on the mat, the Judges call for the dry pop and sluice. These gunners are at the location of the pond bird from test 6. The line to this bird is down the hill, right of the gunners at the ponds edge – back up the far hill, across the road and then go to a pile of sticks 27 yards from the line.

The judge said that he will give the dog a number and they should then "line the blind."

This test is taking each dog approximately 2 - 2.5 minutes to complete.

6th Series Insights …

We have just had our third gun change and this test continues to be challenging. The temperatures have risen to almost 80 degrees. There is a slight breeze from the north at eleven miles per hour. The Sixth Series is set in a bowl surrounded by mountains and low hills. It is basically a tight triple along and beyond the "Butterfly Pond"  and a big turn to the right. As the day progresses, the hunting has taken its toll on the dog's scenting ability. As a consequence, running in this hot, tall grass puts a premium on marking. Handlers have selected the birds in almost every possible order, but the results have still been tough going … almost 1/3 of the dogs have handled.
